It has been a sweaty few weeks for us at PTHQ. (Overshare? Sorry everyone). But it has! Between Martha lifting more sacks of grain into the mill than ever before (to quench the seemingly voracious thirsts of the growing community of PT guzzlers), and Dann running up and down those brewhouse stairs to get our pretty beer juuust right, we haven’t had a second to cool off. And, to make the end-of-summer even more sticky and unbearable, we decided to move offices this week.
But, don’t get us wrong: we’re not complaining. More beer is always good, and our new office is even better. Actually, we’re pretty over-the-moon-excited to tell you all that we’re now officially a part of the Fringe, a workspace/collective around the corner from the last office space we called home in Somerville’s Union Square. Fringe is made up of 13 small businesses and artists doing neat things in a neat place, working hard, collaborating, creating cool things, doing what they love, and all that good stuff that dream jobs are made of. It’s pretty nice to exist and work in a community of passionate and creative folks, and we’re honored to be a part of them! Say, are you in need of a videographer, or some letterpress work, or a new hand-built bicycle, or a roof-top garden? Check out the work that people in the Fringe are doing. We can vouch for their talents, and also their fun-ness (very high on both counts).
But let’s get real for a sec: our new space is freaking tiny. We’re a tiny company, so it kind of works, but it’s also kind of insane. We spent a week breaking down plywood, putting up drywall, patching, sanding, painting, vacuuming, and getting wall debris in our hair and blue paint in our nose. I can say with a highly scientific degree of certainty that my skin will never again feel *truly* 100% clean. Martha, our in-house scientist, can you confirm this? Is this/is this not real science?
Also, in happier news, I have finally mastered Swedish after my 600th trip to IKEA in the last few days. Congratulations, me! (That’s “grattis” for those of you that also like to go to IKEA).
In any case, it was all well worth it, because look at these STUNNING UNBELIEVABLE NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN DIY HOME IMPROVEMENT SHOW ON HOME AND GARDEN TELEVISION BEFORE AND AFTER PICS.
Here is the office on move-in day 1.
Here is Martha tearing things down with a hammer and her big muscles.
Here is Dann putting up these cool hand-made bottle-lights that were magically left here for us by previous tenants.
…And here we are! Enjoying our new space! And being productive! And getting things done even though we still have quite a bit of IKEA “Flurgurz” furniture to build!

Are you crying yet? What’s that one home improvement show where everyone cries? Do you think we should be on that show? Are you the host of that show, or any other show on television? Please contact us.
In all seriousness though, the Fringe is an incredibly cool space to call office-home, and we’re psyched to show up there every day to drink coffee and make important party-balloon-color-decisions everyday. Again, let me remind you to check out what the Fringe kids are up to. They have a blog (not nearly as idiotic as this one) where you can keep up with all their goings-on, like this super-neat monthly networking night at Atwoods that you can check out here. Or, better yet, stop by and say hello to us yourselves! We will gladly accept visitors that make us seem cool and popular in front of our new work-neighbors.
See you at the water cooler,
Anya
PS: More big changes are coming your way from PTHQ in the coming days… So, y’know, keep your eyes peeled and stuff.
